Testing of airtightness technologies
BSRIA, Lakehouse and University of Nottingham conducted pilot tests on-site in the UK on air tightness testing technologies comparing the Built2Spec technologies with the competitive market technologies.
Therefore, they have run research on airtightness testing using the traditional blower door system and the new PULSE unit developed by Nottingham University.
The results have shown that currently the blower door appears to be the more convenient option in terms of transport and manoeuvring and identifying weakness within the envelope. The PULSE unit is very easy to set up, however it requires 4 minutes recharge for each test.
